ZKsync

zkSync is a ZK rollup, a trustless protocol that uses cryptographic validity proofs to provide scalable and low-cost transactions on Ethereum. In zkSync, computation is performed off-chain and most data is stored off-chain as well. As all transactions are proven on the Ethereum mainchain, users enjoy the same security level as in Ethereum.

zkSync is airdropping 17.5% of the tokens (3.675 billion ZK) to all eligible participants. A total of 695,232 wallets are eligible for the airdrop, and ZK tokens will be airdropped without any vesting or lock-up periods. Eligible users have until January 3, 2025 to claim the tokens. They would also likely do future airdrops to users, as only 17.5% of the 67% community pool has been airdropped. Continue to interact with the zkSync ecosystem to be eligible for future airdrops.

Step-by-Step Guide:
  1. Visit the ZKsync airdrop claim page.
  2. Submit your wallet address or GitHub username and click on “Check”.
  3. If you’re eligible, then you will be able to connect your wallet.
  4. Now watch a video about the ZK token, delegate your votes, and claim the tokens.
  5. A total of 695,232 wallets are eligible for the airdrop.
  6. Eligibility and allocations for the airdrop were based on the snapshot taken on March 24th, 2024, at 0:00 UTC, which was the one-year anniversary of the ZKsync era mainnet launch.
  7. The full eligibility list can be found in this blog article.
  8. For usage-based airdrop, each eligible wallet can receive a minimum of 450 ZK and a maximum of 100,000 ZK tokens.
  9. Eligible users of contribution-based airdrop could receive additional allocations.
  10. Eligible users have until January 3, 2025 to claim the tokens.
  11. Wave 2 of the airdrop for ZKsync Native Project Contributors, External Contributors and Protocol Guild will begin on June 24th 2024.
  12. GitHub Developers and ZKsync GitHub Discussion Helpers are required to associate their wallet address to their GitHub handle by June 25th 00:00 Central European Summer Time (CEST) to be eligible.
  13. The official airdrop announcement clarified that “~67% of ZK will go to the community. 17.5% of the overall supply will be distributed through a one-time airdrop. The rest will be distributed over time, through ecosystem initiatives, managed by the ZKsync Foundation, and the ZK Nation governance process, to support a growing ecosystem as new users come onchain.”
  14. It’s recommended to HODL your original allocation and delegate your ZK tokens for governance to potentially receive further ZK airdrops in the future. Optimism’s airdrop #3 awarded users who delegated tokens over a 6-month period (January 20th to July 20th, 2023) with OP, and a bonus was given to addresses who delegated to a delegate who voted in Optimism governance. It’s possible that ZKsync will do something similar to reward positive sum governance.
  15. Some other potential qualifiers for future airdrops could be: i) continue transacting regularly on ZkSync (especially providing liquidity to DeFi protocols) and ii) being a power user of one of the top dApps.
  16. ZKsync has also launched a six-week campaign called ZK Fest, which will run from Aug 5 to Sep 13. ZK Fest is a music-festival-themed campaign to showcase projects building on ZKsync through digital events and activities involving gaming, NFT projects, DeFi protocols, and builders on the Elastic Chain. Participate in these activities to win various rewards.
  17. Turn on notifications for the ZKsync and ZK Nation accounts on X to monitor for updates and act on anything that they mention or highlight.
