EigenLayer

EigenLayer is an innovative project designed to enhance the security and scalability of the Ethereum network by enabling the restaking of ETH across multiple protocols. This system allows staked ETH to be used as cryptoeconomic security for other protocols in exchange for fees and rewards, optimizing capital efficiency for validators and offering new possibilities for developers within the Ethereum ecosystem.

EigenLayer has raised $164 million in funding from investors like Polychain Capital and Coinbase Ventures. Even though it was just speculation initially, the team has confirmed the EIGEN token launch alongside the airdrop for restakers. The team is airdropping 5% of the EIGEN supply for this airdrop season.

Step-by-Step Guide:
  1. Visit the EigenLayer airdrop claim eligibility page to check your airdrop eligibility.
  2. The claim window opens on May 10 and closes in 120 days on September 7, 2024.
  3. Even though it was just speculation initially, the team has confirmed the EIGEN token launch alongside the airdrop for restakers.
  4. The snapshot for the airdrop was taken on March 15, 2024.
  5. The team has set aside 5% of the EIGEN supply for the current stakedrop season.
  6. EIGEN Stakedrop Season 1 is rolling out in 2 phases.
  7. In Phase 1 (P1), ~90% of Season 1 will be allocated to users that have interacted with the EigenLayer protocol in simpler ways. Phase 1 includes most restakers and liquid staking token holders.
  8. In Phase 2 (P2), the remaining 10% of Season 1 will be distributed to users who had complex interactions with their LRTs after feedback from ecosystem participants.
  9. Additionally, a small EIGEN token allocation has been made to some testnet users. However, upcoming testnets, such as Holesky, will not feature token allocations.
  10. EigenLayer has also added an additional 100 EIGEN to users who have interacted with the platform by April 19th.
  11. Users who were initially eligible for the minimum allocation of 10 EIGEN will now receive 110 EIGEN.
  12. EigenLayer has announced that more EIGEN airdrop seasons are coming and has set aside 15% of the initial supply.
  13. EIGEN’s token launch will also include an initial non-transferable period.
