Papertrade Airdrop Details
The Papertrade airdrop has no snapshot or claim page. The full PAPER supply is minted to traders through the PAPER reward curve: every losing close or liquidation mints PAPER to your account. Staked PAPER earns USDC from exchange fees and pool surplus. PAPER can’t be transferred or sold. The team now says it has no plans to change that, so its only value today is the USDC it earns while staked.
Until the pending upgrade, the rate is 100 PAPER per $1 lost while the pool holds under $2M. Above that it decays as 100 x (120M / (120M + H))², where H is the pool’s all-time high gain. On 17 October 2026 that put the rate near 12 PAPER per $1.
After the upgrade, each $1M lost mints roughly 0.1% of the PAPER supply at that moment, which slowly dilutes older holders in favor of newer traders. In and near insolvency, the flat 100 PAPER per $1 becomes a time-weighted multiplier that grows the longer the pool stays underwater.
Latest Update: On 19 October 2026 Papertrade ruled out PAPER transfers for now and announced fee and mint curve changes that go live 24 hours after they enter the contract timelock.
How to earn PAPER on Papertrade
Step 1: Open the official Papertrade exchange
Go to the Papertrade exchange. The project’s own site and docs use only papertrade.xyz, exchange.papertrade.xyz and docs.papertrade.xyz, so check the address bar before you connect anything.
Step 2: Connect a wallet and sign the session key
Connect any EVM wallet and sign once. That signature registers a session key that signs your trades for 30 days with no popup per trade and no gas on your side. The key can open and close positions but can’t withdraw your funds.
Step 3: Deposit at least 10 USDC
Click Deposit and pick the chain your funds sit on: USDC from Hyperliquid, HyperEVM, Ethereum, Arbitrum or Solana, or USDG from Robinhood Chain. At least 10 USDC has to arrive after fees. The first deposit also pays a one-time 1 USDC activation fee.
If you don’t hold USDC yet, buy it on Bybit and withdraw to Arbitrum or Solana. If your funds are on another chain, swap them into Arbitrum USDC with the bridge widget below.

Step 4: Open a BTC or ETH position
Pick a market, long or short, your margin and a leverage of up to 1000x, then click Buy or Sell. You enter at Hyperliquid’s mid price. Check the bust price first: a position can’t be topped up, so more headroom means closing and reopening with more margin.
Step 5: Close at a loss or get liquidated to mint PAPER
PAPER mints on realized losses only. A losing close mints on the loss and a liquidation mints on the full margin. Winning closes mint nothing and pay a haircut that’s biggest on small price moves, plus a 2% fee on what’s left.
Step 6: Stake your PAPER
Open the Paper tab and stake with a wallet signature. Rewards go to staked PAPER only. Staking and unstaking are instant with no lockup or cooldown.
Step 7: Claim rewards and withdraw
Claim your USDC from the Paper tab whenever you like. It lands in your trading balance. From there you can withdraw (10 USDC minimum) to Hyperliquid, HyperEVM, Ethereum, Arbitrum or Solana with a wallet signature.
Tips for Maximizing PAPER
Read the mint rate before you trade: it only falls as the pool’s high-water mark climbs, from 100 PAPER per $1 at launch to about 12 on 17 October 2026. The exception is a pool under $2M, where every dollar lost mints 100 PAPER again. The House tab shows the pool.
Don’t aim for liquidation: it mints at the same rate per dollar as a manual close but takes the whole margin. At 1000x it fires after about a 0.052% move, when a voluntary close would still return nearly half your margin.
A hedge isn’t free: before launch, Delphi Digital’s tempest pointed out that a paired long and short can mint PAPER cheaply, as Bankless reported on 9 October 2026. The winning leg still pays the haircut and the 2% fee. A win under 0.2 bps pays nothing.
Stay out around Hyperliquid maintenance: the team said on 16 October 2026 that it lowers leverage and open interest caps up to 60 minutes before Hyperliquid’s weekend maintenance and processes no trades until the order books are live again.
Risks and Considerations
Papertrade’s own risk page names manipulation of Hyperliquid’s mid price as its main unresolved risk. DefiLlama records a $1.28M oracle manipulation on launch day (10 October 2026). The team said it tightened open interest caps afterwards. A 2-of-3 multisig held by izebel_eth, blurr and UngusTrade can upgrade the contracts after a 7-day timelock. The docs publish no audit. If the pool runs dry, winners wait in the queue with no set date. PAPER has no market price, so count every loss as spent.

Conclusion
Papertrade turns trading losses into PAPER, a staked claim on the exchange’s USDC fees. With transfers ruled out and a mint curve that will dilute early holders, PAPER now works as a rakeback on losses with no resale route.
What is Papertrade?
Papertrade is a perpetual futures exchange on HyperEVM, the smart contract layer of Hyperliquid. Trading opened on 10 October 2026 with BTC and ETH perps at up to 1000x leverage. Its native token is PAPER, which traders earn by losing.
There is no order book. Every trade is a synthetic swap against one USDC pool, priced at the midpoint of Hyperliquid’s best bid and offer. Nothing is traded on Hyperliquid itself, so there is no funding rate and no slippage within the open interest caps. The pool started at $0, accepts no outside deposits and grows only from trader losses.
Papertrade is a fair launch built by izebel_eth and blurr, with no pre-mint, team or VC allocation. On 17 October 2026 its stats page showed $1.24T in volume from 21,523 users. It has no connection to trade.xyz or to paper trading simulators.
