What is Plether?
Plether is a perpetuals DEX on Arbitrum built around a single market: the strength of the US dollar against a basket of six major currencies. Traders go long or short that index with USDC margin, and every position is margined and settled in USDC. Plether calls the instrument plDXY, and the testnet competition running now is the first chance to trade it.
The mechanics differ from a standard perp DEX. Orders commit before the execution price is revealed, so nobody can trade ahead of you. There is no auto-deleveraging, because maximum payout locks at entry and the protocol rejects any trade its HousePool cannot cover.
Plether Testnet Competition Details
Plether is running a two week trading competition on Arbitrum Sepolia. Every wallet registered through the form receives 100,000 mock USDC, and the three most profitable traders split $1,000 in real USDC paid on Arbitrum mainnet.
Competition parameters:
- Prize pool: $1,000 USDC, split $600 / $300 / $100
- Starting balance: 100,000 mock USDC per registered wallet
- Window: July 20 to August 2, 4PM UTC at both ends
- Eligibility: finish at or above +1% ($101,000) with at least five active days
An active day means at least one position opened or closed. Markets follow the FX schedule and close on weekends, leaving ten trading days in the window. Ranking is by final P&L, prizes are paid within a week of the close, and it is one wallet per trader. The team has said it reads the chain for wash trading and sybil accounts.
How to Join the Plether Testnet Competition
Step 1: Register through the competition form
Submit the Plether testnet competition registration form with your email, X handle, and the wallet you plan to trade with. Testnet access and updates go to that email, and that address is the one that gets funded.
Step 2: Follow Plether on X
Your X account must be at least one month old and follow Plether. Registrations that fail this check are not funded.
Step 3: Connect your wallet on the testnet
Open the Plether testnet page, connect your wallet, and switch the network to Arbitrum Sepolia. The interface mirrors the mainnet build.
Step 4: Request your mock USDC
Click “get mock USDC” and enter your Plether Trading Account address. The team sends 100,000 mock USDC on Arbitrum Sepolia. Balances have no real value and can be reset at any time.
Step 5: Open your first plDXY position
Choose a direction and size the position:
Long USD: you expect the dollar to gain against the basket
Short USD: you expect the dollar to weaken against it
Orders enter a queue and cannot be cancelled once committed, so settle on your size and leverage before you submit.
Step 6: Trade on at least five separate days
Open or close at least one position on five different days inside the window. Days without activity do not count, and a strong balance without five active days leaves you off the prize list.
Step 7: Track your P&L against the +1% threshold
Ranking is final P&L at 4PM UTC on August 2, not your peak balance mid week. Keep the account above $101,000 going into the close.
Step 8: Join Discord for support
The Plether Discord is where the team answers questions during the competition, useful if execution behaves in a way you did not expect.
Tips for Placing in the Plether Competition
Clear the five day minimum early. Eligibility is a gate, not a curve. Bank your active days in week one so week two is pure P&L work.
Size for the DXY, not for crypto. The dollar index moves in fractions of a percent per day, so leverage that feels reckless on ETH is often what it takes to register a move.
Plan around the weekend freeze. FX markets close, new positions are restricted, and carry keeps accruing on anything you leave open into Friday.

Conclusion
The setup is simple: 100,000 mock USDC, ten trading days, and $1,000 in real USDC for the three best P&Ls. Clearing +1% with five active days puts you in contention, and registering late costs you trading days you cannot get back. No token sits behind this one, so the reason to trade is the prize pool.
