What is GenLayer?
GenLayer is a blockchain protocol that uses AI to create a trust layer for self-driving commerce, governance, and resolving disputes. Intelligent Contracts are its main new feature. These are smart contracts that can understand natural language, deal with unstructured data, and get live web inputs to give enforceable on-chain results without the need for courts or middlemen.
In August 2024, the project got $7.5 million in a Seed round led by North Island Ventures. Other investors included Arrington Capital, MH Ventures, ZK Ventures, and BlockBuilders. GenLayer is currently in the testnet phase, with both the Asimov and Bradbury testnets running and work on the mainnet continuing.
GenLayer Airdrop Details
GenLayer has not confirmed a token or airdrop. This is just a possible airdrop based on the active points program that is going on through the GenLayer Portal. The program keeps track of contributions on a public leaderboard for Builder, Validator, and Community tracks. The portal also makes it clear that points are limited, so early participants have an advantage.
Key Parameters:
- Airdrop Allocation: TBA
- Distribution Method: Points-based (Builder, Validator, Community tracks)
- TGE Date: TBA
The portal is currently home to the Testnet Bradbury Hackathon, which runs from March 20 to April 10 and has prizes worth more than $5,000 as well as Builder Points. There is also a referral program that lets users earn 10% of the total points of any builder they refer.
How to Farm the GenLayer Airdrop
Step 1: Visit the GenLayer Points Portal
Connect your wallet to the GenLayer Points Portal. This is where you can see all of your missions, points, and leaderboard rankings.
Step 2: Complete Your Profile
Update your profile and connect your social media accounts (Discord, GitHub, Twitter/X). This guarantees that all contributions are correctly credited to your account and unlocks profile-linked missions.
Step 3: Earn Your First Points on GitHub
Star the GenLayer repository after connecting your GitHub account. Without any technical obstacles, this is the quickest method to acquire starting points.
Step 4: Claim Testnet Tokens
Go to the GenLayer Testnet Faucet, link your wallet, and add the GenLayer Bradbury network. Claim testnet GEN to start using the protocol.
Step 5: Deploy a Smart Contract on GenLayer Studio
Connect your wallet to GenLayer Studio. In the Run and Debug panel, deploy llm_erc20.py and confirm the transaction to record on-chain activity at your address.
Step 6: Complete Portal Missions
Return to the portal and work through available quests across all three contribution tracks:
- Builders — deploy contracts, build dApps, submit hackathon projects
- Validators — join the waitlist, run AI nodes, complete validator quests
- Community — create educational content, host IRL events, build bots or tools
Step 7: Participate in the Testnet Bradbury Hackathon
To get Builder Points and a chance to win more than $5,000 in cash prizes, submit a project through the portal between March 20 and April 10. On the hackathon page in the portal, you can find the project requirements and how to submit them.
Step 8: Refer Builders for Bonus Points
To get 10% of each builder’s points, share your referral link from the referral program page. Referrals stack, which makes this a good passive multiplier if you are active in developer communities.
Tips for Maximizing GenLayer Points
Prioritize the Builders track: Building dApps and deploying contracts gets you a lot more points than doing social tasks. Put your technical effort here first.
Submit to the hackathon before April 10: The barrier to entry is low, and even a basic intelligent contract is eligible for builder points in addition to prize eligibility.
Check the portal weekly for new missions: There are only a certain number of points available for each quest, and new ones are added all the time. The earlier you finish, the more points you get.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the GenLayer Airdrop Confirmed?
No. GenLayer has not said anything about a token or an airdrop. The points program is up and running, and contributors are getting rewards, but there hasn’t been an official announcement about distribution yet. Taking part early gives you the best chance of winning any future event.
Is Participating in GenLayer Free?
Yes. You don’t need any real funds to claim testnet tokens, deploy contracts, finish quests, or add content to the community. Testnet runs the whole program.
How Are GenLayer Points Earned?
You can earn points on three tracks: Builders (contracts and dApps), Validators (node operation and quests), and Community (content, events, and tools). The portal leaderboard keeps track of and verifies contributions.
Conclusion
GenLayer’s points program gives builders, validators, and community contributors a head start on any future token event. The hackathon runs until April 10, and there is an active referral program that gives out bonuses. This is the best time to take advantage of these offers.
Set up the portal and get a GitHub star for quick wins. Then, for the most Builder Points, deploy smart contracts and take part in the hackathon.
