What is Lighter?

Lighter is a zero-knowledge rollup on Ethereum that is made for high-performance spot and perpetual futures trading. It does all of its order matching and liquidations on-chain, using cryptographic proofs. This means it can match orders as quickly as a CEX while still being as secure as Ethereum.

There are no fees for trading in select markets, and traders of all kinds can access the platform through both an API and a UI. The project raised $68M in a Series B round in November 2025 at approximately a $1.5B valuation.
